ABOUT THE SONG:
I guess that secretly, I really wanted an album that includes clapping. There are at least four songs that have clapping of some sort, and I only realized this as I was typing these words. Interesting...
So, here is a bit of a bitter piece. Let me dissect this one in order. We have a bit of a disjointed drumbeat and bass introducing themselves to an eerie string scratch that gives birth to triplets of guitar melody lines. The verse comes in with lyrical resentment painted through metaphors. It builds into the prechorus of straight talk which resolves into a more light hearted lounge jazzy chorus.

The picture painted: There are those who's thoughts and actions are shallow, unoriginal, uninspired and self-serving. They are conniving, two-faced and endlessly jealous of other people. They betray, disrespect and live in endlessly fictitious circles. Just remember this: They just keep circling what's real, they're unable to feel and they're not learning a thing. They look but they'll never see what's beyond their beliefs. That's not "something"... It's NOTHING.

They leave little tiny footprints, but yours are giant footsteps yet to come.

It’s just like starting a joke, but
Keeping it close, ‘cause the punchline’s weak.
It’s just like making a splash,
But you know you can’t swim and
The pool’s empty.
You coast from coast to coast,
Enjoying the toasts, but not
Lifting a finger.
And now the fires are lit, and the
Masterpiece shifted
Out of your corner.
You just keep circling what’s real,
Unable to feel, you’re not learning a thing and
You look but you never see what’s
Beyond your beliefs,
That’s not something! It’s nothing, and
Tiny footprints… little tiny footprints, left behind.
That’s all that’s left, and
I hear footsteps, we all hear footsteps
Of what’s to come.
Of what's begun.
Like someone tightening the rope,
Like starting to choke,
I went threw the disease.
But now I’m over that mess and the
Disrespect and my mind is at ease.
I know you don’t see it clear, and you’ll
Never see clear ’til you feel it yourself, and
I know what’s coming for you, and the things you’ll go through,
And that’s all I’ve got for you. I’ve got nothing for you.
You just keep circling what’s real,
Unable to feel, you’re not learning a thing and
You look but you never see what’s
Beyond your beliefs,
That’s not something! It’s nothing, and
Tiny footprints… little tiny footprints, left behind.
That’s all that’s left, and
I hear footsteps, we all hear footsteps
Of what’s to come.
Of what's begun.
